In the good old days, when one person needed to break the news of something big happening – a major life event – they’d sit down with that person and discuss it. Sat at a table, two people would exchange thoughts and opinions until a resolution was reached. But now? No such luck! When was the last time anyone did anything like that? Nowadays we have technology to hide behind. Whether it’s emails, tweets, Facebook messages, phone calls, Facetime… Or, in this case, text messages, there’s an easy way out of announcing something big. Like pregnancy news. But with texts, there’s so much room for misinterpretation. Or, as we like to call them – big fat fails. So, let’s get to it. Fifteen of the world’s biggest pregnancy text fails. Just reading them’s enough to give you morning sickness…
When it comes to SMS fails, there are plenty of ways to make some pretty major mistakes. But far and away the most basic error? Well, it has to be sending your text message to the wrong recipient. It’s a mistake you really shouldn’t be making. Not anymore. Come on… How long have we all been using cellphones? YEARS! Haven’t we learned how to work them by now? Jeeeeez… This girl clearly still has problems. ‘Check your name on the phone, honey’. That’s some pretty good fatherly advice.
You’ve heard the phrase ‘swings and roundabouts’, right? It means that every situation has its ups and downs. Its pros and cons. Advantages and disadvantages. We’re not sure if that applies here. The pregnant teen might try and convince her mom that being a 35 year-old grandmother instead of a 34 year-old one might be a good thing, but we don’t think that’s gonna convince grandma. The poor old dear. Still, again – nice of this kid to break the news via text message. And after her mom was so nice to her about being sick too.
For the generation of us who grew up with movies in the theaters like The Usual Suspects and The Sixth Sense, we love a twist in the tale. A sudden change in proceedings at the end of a story that changes the tone of everything that’s come before. And this text message fail is exactly what we’re talking about. It’s almost as if it’s an exchange directed by M. Night Shyamalan himself. The admission of a pregnancy… The mom already knowing and then the big sister twist at the end? Brilliant!
‘Think u have the wrong #’… REALLY? Well, maybe. Or maybe not. Our theory on this is that the guy on the right in the green boxes knows EXACTLY who it is texting him. With the opening gambit ‘I’m pregnant’, that’s enough to scare a lot of dudes. So we reckon that he’s just being smart and playing dumb. That new iPhone of his? We have a rather sneaking suspicion that it was pretty quickly tossed into the nearest lake. Safety first, safety second.
Not every parent of a 16 year-old is primed and ready to freak out in a massive way on hearing the news that their kid is up the duff. Check out this mom – code named ‘Mama-c-ta’ – who is not only prepared not to go crazy at her young daughter, she’s actively ENCOURAGING her to get pregnant! Maybe her daughter’s right… Perhaps she is drunk. Drunk on potential babies. She’s a babyholic.
Here’s another heartwarming SMS text message exchange between a daughter and her mother around the sensitive topic of teen pregnancy. An innocent question gets a sweet reply. But Mom’s comeback maybe isn’t quite as friendly as it first seems… Still, we can understand where’s she’s coming from. Newborns are much cuter and more adorable than teenagers, aren’t they? Now this is what we call a serious pregnancy text fail.
It’s the age-old question, isn’t it? Whenever anyone announces that they’re ‘with child’, everyone wants to knows just one thing (aside, of course, from ‘when’s it due?’). And that question is, ‘will it be a boy or a girl?’ And so why wait for the question, huh? Why not preempt the question but offering out the information or asking the other person about it, as in this case with Baby Dadda. Except on this occasion it backfires really quite spectacularly. Oh dear.
So an accidental pregnancy is the news being broken in this text exchange. And while the girl herself hardly sounds enthusiastic, this father-to-be sounds positively distraught. Or should that be ‘negatively’ distraught? Either way, he’s desperate to escape the life of being Dad. To the point of faking his own death. Albeit not very well. We don’t many dead men that use iPhones. Or smile for photos with signs reading ‘RIP’ round their neck.
Being pregnant does some pretty weird things to your body. First off – obviously – it makes a huge growth swell up on your torso. Other things swell up too. Some things leak. All sorts of crazy stuff goes down. Cravings are odd as well. Pregnant ladies often get the overwhelming need to eat funny foods. Like cottage cheese. And crotch cheese, apparently. Some women eat feel the need to munch on coal, did you know that? It’s utter madness. Being pregnant is MESSED UP.
Short and sweet this exchange. The girl’s breaking the news to Mom that she’s pregnant once again. How many times has she been up the duff, you’ve got to wonder. Enough times to think that it might be ‘something in the air’ causing all the babies. And, like Mom’s zinger suggests, maybe it is. Her daughter’s legs… Now that’s what we call a burn. And a fail. Best break news of the next inevitable pregnancy in person, eh?
Here’s another case of mistaken identity. These pregnancy fails right here are really putting us off the idea of communicating with anyone, about anything, via SMS messages. This woman must be frazzled by the news of her baby, because she’s clearly read ‘Mark’ as Peter’. And with devastating consequences. She’s pregnant and now potentially facing being a single mom. Unless she can talk her way out of this sticky situation. Which we’d be VERY impressed by…
The rest of these pregnancy fails are quite knockabout and funny. While they may be fairly serious to the people concerned, they’ve raised a few smiles, haven’t they? This text swapping session, though? Not so much. In fact, it’s actually pretty brutal, is this. You’ve gotta feel for the poor girl. This guy sounds like a real douchebag. Still, maybe she’ll be better off without him. In fact, based on this conversation – we’d say that’s almost guaranteed.
Dads often find it hard to let go. We all know that. Marriage ceremonies even have a whole section dedicated to the handing over of the daughter to the new husband. It seems that that doesn’t put an end to it always, though. As we can see here. In her mid-twenties, living away and married, this woman still can’t escape the clutches of her protective old man. Still, it’s sweet, isn’t it? We’re sure he loves her a lot. But just think – he’s going to make for one Helluva protective granddad!
Ah, backtracking. We’ve all had to do it at some point or other in our lives, haven’t we? But possibly never to this extent. The about-face made here is almost impressive it’s so extreme. Still, you’ve got to admire the ambition on show here. Good work from this dude. Although, we’d be surprised if he’s managed to convince his broken condom partner as to his very sudden emigration. Still, ‘A’ for effort, son.
It’s not just people that can easily be confused over text message. Everything’s open to crossed wires. Even down the pregnancy test part of pregnancy itself. How so? Well, as we can see here – there’s more than one type of test. This mom is proud of her daughter passing her math test, not ‘passing’ her pregnancy test. She goes from proud as punch to wanting to punch in the course of one text message. We’re guessing this girl ran away from home…
